Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We will cut right to the chase: we are asking for your help. Our building is failing and we need approximately $20,000 for much-needed and overdue repairs to our aging roof, furnace, windows, plaster, and organ. We have raised roughly $9,000 already, but there is still much work to be done.
As many of you know, we are a congregation of more than 100 baptized members in the economically depressed neighborhood of South Anthony Boulevard in East Central Fort Wayne. Our 121-year-old building was originally home to Concordia Lutheran Church, but when Concordia moved out in 1970, Shepherd of the City was formed from multiple smaller congregations. By the grace and mercy of God, we have been serving our wonderful neighbors in the Memorial Park neighborhood ever since.
We write this letter to humbly ask for your financial gifts so that we can repair our building and continue to preach the good news of Jesus Christ to the people in our underserved neighborhood who are in desperate need of hearing the Gospel. You can donate online by clicking here or you can mail a check to the church at 1301 South Anthony, Fort Wayne, IN 46803.
This donation drive will continue until we reach our goal of $20,000. Our hope is to raise enough funds to make repairs before any further issues with the furnaces or roof occur.
We thank God for your continued prayers and support, and we ask that you would please consider helping us to repair our sanctuary as we also work to repair our fellow broken sinners in East Central Fort Wayne through the mercy and grace of God's saving word!
Your brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus,
